National Public Lands Day 2024
When: Saturday, September 28, 2024
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Where: Meet at the Interpretive Center: 1000 Rustad Road, Faribault, MN 55021
What to Bring: sunscreen, bug spray, gloves, proper attire for working in the woods
What we are doing: Volunteers will be assisting River Bend staff with Buckthorn removal in critical habitats to help restore natural vegetation. River Bend is home to many species of plants and animals, some rare and endangered. Your help in removing buckthorn will be another step towards restoring native resources for these species.
These activities are fun for ages 10+ and a great way to spend family time in nature!
Why we Celebrate: River Bend Nature Center is unique in that the land is owned by the City of Faribault which has an agreement for River Bend Nature Center to operate it as a nature center. River Bend is a 501(c)3 nonprofit nature center and depends upon memberships and donations for operations as well as volunteers. River Bend Nature Center is not a city park, but open for public use.
